Default Stones covers on Gift of Screws

Has anyone read why all the Stones covers from GOS were left off of SYW.
I'm assuming the obvious - that the band wanted all original material on the album.
I would love it if they end up on some official release some day.

Also - I'm listening to the GOS demos for the first time since April 15th.
Wow - so many of the tracks were great as they were - before the SYW remastering and Stevie-izing.

I think Down On Rodeo would have fit really well on the album and could have become a classic Fleetwood Mac track - on the level of Never Going Back Again. It's a gorgeous song.

And since I'm already off topic I'll delve deeper into a tangent....

I think Sorcerer and Candlebright should have been on SYW - replacing Running Through The Garden and Smile At You or Goodbye Baby. Then, we would have a truly excellent FM album.
For me - Lindsey's songs are holding up much better than Stevie's.

I would tend to agree that his songs are holding up slightly better....
It would be great to see some of those Rolling Stones covers on the next FM record. Gotta Get Away is a truly great song.

Down on Rodeo is another great song. I have no idea why this was left off. They could've used this in place of either Say Goodbye or Red Rover--not that I don't like those songs, but they are similar.

Maybe Lindsey should release a CD of covers. He's got plenty:

Gotta Get Away
The Singer Not the Song
Blue Turns to Grey
She Smiled Sweetly
Trying for the Sun
Big Yellow Taxi
Love Minus Zero/No Limit
This Nearly Was Mine
All My Sorrows
Satisfied Mind
September Song

I have no doubt there are more that we don't even know about.

Actually, does Blue Letter qualify? Did someone else record it before Fleetwood Mac?

Wouldn't it be cool if he covered something like the following:

London Calling
What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding
Radio Radio
Thunder Road
I'll Be Your Baby Tonight

Who wrote Try for the Sun?

Were the Rolling Stones covers actually intended to be part of Gift of Screws or did he just do them for fun? (I suppose Law and Order and Out of the Cradle have covers on them).

Try for the Sun is a cover of a Donovan song. I believe the words may be somewhat different, right?

Hey, I forgot his awesome rendition of Here Comes the Sun too. Add a studio version of that to my wish list.

And speaking of Beatles, a Lindsey version of John's Instant Karma or Mother would be excellent. Or even Beautiful Boy.

I agree with Beautiful Boy, But I would like hear Linds' record a version of "Dream #9"...That song would be the perfect Lennon track for him, Brian j.

Allison-Elvis Costello
Come Together-The Beatles
Should I Stay or Should I Go-The Clash
Gimme Shelter-Rolling Stones
Empty Garden-Elton John
