Thrown Down, by the smallest possible percent.

I'm kinda surprised 2 middle of the road songs like these were the finalists? I chose Steal Your Heart Away... I'm still miffed 10 years later that the "wall of sound" Thrown Down was chosen ditched in favor of the rather skeletal version that ended up on SYW.

That's how I feel about DR, except instead of calling it Middle of the Road, I might say mediocre instead.

I wouldn't put Thrown Down in Stevie's top 5 songs of all time, but I will say Top 15 at the very least. It actually hurts me inside when I think about it hard enough. Just superb.

It isn't anything like mediocre, Michele. On the contrary, DR is a remarkable high point in FM's album history. I'd like to talk to you about it in two or three year's time, when you have had the opportunity to reflect further.

No thinking necessary.....I would vote for Thrown Down over anything else on SYW. Not that I don't like the album, but to me TD is a masterpiece.

neither one of these songs would be nowhere near my top pick from SYW - album that has so many extraordinary songs.

but if i was choosing which one to listen to of these two we are left with here, no competition - Steal Your Heart Away. pretty.

So it turns out that this same exact poll came about in Nov 2010 in my favorite song contest...and now a year and half later...

You don't think the 8 years I've already had have been enough?

Saw it live too and I was glad they dropped it from the set, although they tried to do something pretty interesting with background vocals towards the end that I enjoyed.

Anyway, it's better than RTTG and Silver Girl. I'll give it that.

Thrown Down wouldn't even have made
the album if I had my choice. But they didn't
ask.

you should compare the results and whether the same people voted for the same song then and now to see the development (or stagnation) of your poll voters.

TD won 31-20 then... wonder how close to that result it will be now. if i remember correctly, in the next round the same people who were saying how it's one of the best SN songs ever recorded and should have been a huge hit, put it in the last place among the rest of her songs in the subsequent poll.

One of the tougher choices I have had to make. These are two amazing songs. Love them both. Went with SYHA.
