I will grumpily admit that a reworking of Fleetwood Mac #XIII would be a better send-off for the band than the Finn/Campbell version, especially if John is well enough to take part. I understand that Lindsey has an ego too...

Having said that, it will all rather stick in my craw. In the unlikely event they came to the UK, I wouldn't go. Stevie denied us a final album with the FM moniker on it, although part of me might concede that what we got instead was improved by her absence.

This does not surprise me at all. Lindsey has been dropping hints for about 6 months now. But I think its as ridiculous as Lindsey's firing was. Gosh remember when Mick said Mike and Neil were permanent new members and they were not "fill ins." But I have been saying this since 2018 that Lindsey would share a stage with Stevie again. I will also predict they will do Frozen Love and celebrate Buckingham Nicks in the set too. Mick and Stevie will say with a serious face that time healed the wounds and the public will eat it all up. Oh yeah the facial expressions during Silver Springs will be called authentic and dramatic. I can hear Stevie phoning Mike. Sorry Mike but I need to do this for Mick and he wanted Lindsey.

I wonder what John is thinking if he’s read those headlines suggesting possible reunions. I highly doubt the idea appeals to him. Can you imagine how he’d feel standing on stage and seeing that Christine is no longer there on keyboards? I wouldn’t want to cause him that kind of sadness; I hope his bandmates have considered that. Besides, it would be very sad for them, too.

I haven't read the paywalled article, but if we follow his cycles theory through to its inevitable next phase, while we may well see a SYW-lite project and feel-good rapprochement of sorts, wouldn't we also have to endure the subsequent falling-out and ill-treatment all over again when the Wheel of Time keeps turning?

I can see where Lindsey is coming from. It's the same old stage in the cycle for him, with a nearly completed album of material and hoping to get it out there on a bigger stage. And wanting a chance to rewrite the closing chapter of the FM/BN story.

But I can't see where Stevie is coming from. Maybe she's grown bored of her solo shenanigans.

Or the two of them deep down just crave one more opportunity to get close enough to each other to keep twisting the same old knife.

I don't particularly want to hear either of them sing. I definitely don't want Stevie to write any new 'songs.' I would settle for a public apology to the fans and to the memory of Chris and the Rumours Five for the shameful past ten years.

Regardless, it would be sacrilege to play a single show under the FM name without John. And John isn't going to do one.

I really doubt he'd want to do anything on stage again without her there. I don't think they'd push him to do anything, though... maybe they'd extend an invitation to be polite and then understand if it's not up his alley. but yes i feel the same, that it would be painful for him.

not so sure it would cause lindsey and stevie much sadness, to be honest. and mick would prob get over any pangs of sadness quickly.

While I respect Lindsey as a musician and producer and do think he got a raw deal in 2018, he and Stevie are both self-involved enough not to register that there is any issue with Chris not being there. They'll project photos of Chris during Landslide and feel like saints for their tribute to her. Mick will find a way to get over it, by thinking about the cash.

I would guess it's more likely to have something like a residency at the Sphere -- it's enough of an "event" to make it more upmarket (i.e. $$$$$$) than a regular Vegas residency and has a bit more prestige. It's also less wear and tear than touring, probably nets more income, they will get private jet transport to LA in between shows as part of the deal, and it doesn't cut into Stevie's regular touring markets.

As for the why -- Mick wants to play and wants to make money. Lindsey would see this as redemption after being fired in 2018 and also has no other way to get before big crowds.

As for Stevie? It's a way to tour and make money without risking oversaturation of the touring market -- ticket sales for tours are falling generally because of the economy, but an FM reunion after 2018 and on the 50th anniversary of Rumours will sell, and it will bring out people who have seen Stevie recently and might not be keen to see her solo again so soon given ticket prices. And she can feel magnanimous -- she really did not want to own firing Lindsey, and it really bothered her when people saw that she was the person who ordered it. That is why the band told those ridiculous stories about him not committing and his solo dates being a problem, and it's also why Stevie's proteges took to attacking Lindsey on social media (first time anyone has cared about Vanessa Carlton in 15+ years). Maybe her onstage chatter will talk about how both of them were wrong and both of them behaved badly, so she can get Lindsey to take some of the blame.

They are nuts. Yet I don't know if I would totally refuse to go to a show if it were to happen.

It is Mick who still talks, actually posts about a new album. He was in LA in june for a "a great week recording" and last week he posted he was going to London to work on his album.

No hint about the release date, but if it is in 2027, as Lindsey's album apparently will be too though who knows, these guys will be active next year.

So two albums from these Mac people plus the 50 anniversary of Rumours, it could mean there will be performances, interviews, where they cross paths, appear together, etc. Good for them if that happens, I just hope they don't announce it as a reunion.
