Default What does John want/expect from Touring?

We all know that Stevie and Mick are in it for the money. If Lindsey had his way we would get many extended guitar solos and probably a lot more obscure tracks performed live. What does John want? I'd guess John just wants to play bass and tour occasionally and make some money so he can spend more time with family or sailing. Or that's what we've been led to believe all these years. No one ever asks John what he's in it for. Maybe he's more greedy than we know. Maybe he's the one that won't tour without a high guarantee? I don't really know. What do you think John wants/expects from touring?

What does John want? He wants those two Yanks to shut up for a couple hour hours so he can take a nap after the concert.

I'd agree with you--I think he wants to play bass. In one of the documentaries he talked about playing live and how there is nothing like it, each time is different, etc and he sounded like he enjoyed every moment of it. I think he likes the travel, visiting different places and playing bass but treasures peace and quiet (books, Arsenal football, etc).

I'm sure the money doesn't hurt and allows him and his family a comfortable lifestyle, boats, cars, etc. He doesn't come across as particularly greedy...seems more of a 'grateful for what I've got' type of guy.

He's an Arsenal fan? I always wondered. Nice.

He is indeed--he talked a bit about Arsenal in the Q&A sessions. Hopefully he was able to squeeze in a match or two during the recent UK tour!

I mainly figure he does it as a favor to Mick! No really, I think he does it to do the job he enjoys. The money is nice, too.

They're all in it for the money. But Stevie would be the least likely to be doing it for just money. On the other hand I believe they're doing it for the fame and glory of playing on the BIG STAGE. And Stevie being the most likely to be doing it for THAT! She's the biggest ham of the bunch!!

Really? I always thought the same thing about stevie for the longest time...but lately i've been thinking she's the biggest one out of the bunch for doing it just for the bucks. She flat out loves the big bucks (and who wouldn't). I actually thought her comments over the past few years related to money were pretty crass.

I do agree...she is very well aware of her own legacy/perona in the context of that band, so she is a big time ham with that stuff.

It seems like these days they have really mastered being completely separate entities that strictly come together for 2 hours on stage and thats that, all the more easier to do it for the bucks and strictly the bucks because there isn't a whole lot of room for things to go wrong. easy money.

Besides, she knows she's got Lindsey by the nads because he wants to do a new album...thats a whole year of a** kissing right there in order for that to ever happen. lolol jk

Ok, enough of my rambling on.

Cheers

Alex
