What do you think of the new dvd and rumours reissue?

I think we all now its the reissue of the extened rumours cd with outakes and added silver springs edition but the dvd i do really think its the lost documenatary filmed during the rumours tour were there is some clips on youtube i think is were stevie is dancing around being funny with a roady at rehearsal of one of the shows and behind the scene stuff as well I am looking forward to the dvd part of the package not sure when it will be released my guess after the tour. and how many do think there will be a new cd from the mac in a year or two?

I think I've changed a bit over the last year or so.
I have literally hundreds of recordings, DVDs, VHS tapes, etc of FM/Stevie/Lindsey.
But the last couple of Stevie Greatest hits packages or whatever, I bought but haven't even opened.

I've just come to the conclusion that the 70s, for me, are officially over at long last.

Release something new in 2009 and I'll buy it. Any repackaged stuff is not getting any more of my money. And that's not meant to be disrespectful to them. It's just my personal preference at this point in my life.

I don't think we know this for sure - did I miss something? Last I heard Mick claimed the CD would have unreleased material, which in theory means we should get at least 1 or 2 tunes that were NOT on the remaster. Not that Mick hasn't talked out his ass before, but I'll still holding out some hope.

ITA. Unless there IS something I haven't seen/heard before, I won't be buying. I don't need to be a cpmpletist anymore - I hardly watch what I have anymore as it is.

Of course, the remasters were a pleasant surprise, as far as getting "new" old material so you never know. They may throw us a bone.

That Stevie...is still bound to a Warner Contract for so many albums and such. This happened with Modern. She wanted out because they gave "hits" that she didn't want...but, because of the dotted line...she was forced to record stuff she didn't want to.

With all these repackaged, greatest hits, compilations...etc... She's fulfilling her contract without giving them one damn song. In a lot of ways I don't blame her. Didn't she write something about this? It's like Warner Bros/Reprise...whatever...was like, "...ok Stevie, you're older...you were heavy for a couple of years...so here, we're doing you a big favor...sign this contract and we'll make your records...oh, and by the way...we need your soul too..."

The music (or any entertainment...trust me I was a small time constistantly working actor in L.A) leaders are as corrupt as Bush.

I wonder if the Mac is bound too?

I'll bet once the contract is dissolved, completed or bought out...and she (or the Mac) is with a strong label that gives it's artists like them more creative conrol...we'll hear more "masterpieces"

Glaring example..."Sometimes it's a Bitch"

or... say one her demos like "Blue Water" was given up for an album. It goes from a pretty simple song with a nice melody...into something Grungelike...sounding like a "Dead Kennedys" song.

My opinon...
...artists constantly need a creative, imaginative outlet...and if they don't have it...they burst with their thoughts, feelings, emotions, pain and everthing...and wind up into drinks or drugs or into a padded bin...believe me...I know that much.

The only greatest hits package that Stevie released under Warner was Crystal Visions, and the Enchanted boxed set was her final release under Modern, so what are you referring to when you say "With all these repackaged, greatest hits, compilations...etc..." when in fact, as a solo artist, she's only released one under the Warner label?

Warner, Reprise and all its subsidaries fall under the umbrella of the same binding artist's contract. So, and I'm not arguing...I could very well be wrong... 1 Trouble in Shangrila 2. Crystal Vistions Dvd+CD 3. Crystal Visions CD only (things may have changed but 2 and 3 actually equal 3 releases the dvd is one the cd is two and the seperately packaged cd only makes three) Soon, Soundstage (and all the seperate versions being released) Live in Chicago etc...they all add up individually per disk and package...etc...

She, in my opinon, will have fulfilled the "releases" obligation and then start fresh.

Like I said, I could be wrong. It's, as I first stated, what I have a hunch of.

Since it's a Rumours reissue, I guess all material will be from that era. No Mirage or Tango docs or bonus tracks...

I think I've played the "bonus material" CD from the Reissued Rumors once. I felt it was just unnecessary, most of the songs being stripped down versions of the orginals. So, at this point, I have no plans on purchasing yet another Rumors reissue unless they really make it worth my while.

I’m very interested in finding out what exactly will be released. Like you I bought the remaster. I like it but the additional disk is kind of pointless. There’s nothing there that requires a 2nd or 3rd listen. So if the album is being reissued again and this time has worthwhile extra’s, why didn’t they come out first time around??

Will the DVD be like the current Hendrix ‘Electric Ladyland’ reissue? Tacking on the classic album dvd documentary as a 2nd disk?? I hope not. I do love that Rumours classic album documentary but we’ve all got/seen that. This reissue has to have something worthwhile to make it of any interest. I mean, in the music stores its not as if the last 2cd reissue of Rumours is very expensive, it can be bought fairly cheap.

I understand with the band out on the road their record company will want some product out on the shelves. I’d much prefer reissues of Mirage/Tango or even a full length documentary film on the bands history.

There’s a million different things the band/record company could’ve done in the way of putting something of interest for the hardcore/casual fans on the shelves. But I don’t feel there’ll be much effort put into this reissue. This could we be a wasted opportunity. I certainly hope it isn’t though.

As for the "lazy" argument, 1 person called Stevie lazy in this thread, it's not a lynch mob for God's sake. Nobody called her a worhtless piece of sh*t or anything. We're all fans here. People have the right to their opinion. And I believe the poster was commenting on the fact that she hasn't put out any new solo material in 8 years. Seems that they were saying that Stevie is lazy about releasing new music. Nobody said anything about her charity work or repeated "best of" tours the past few years.

Now, is she: lazy? out of ideas/inspiration? satisfied with her body of work as it stands? scared that new material wouldn't sell as well as in the past? Who knows? But we can discuss it. That's the point of the board.
