Oh.....

I don't like them!! I mean its cool to change hair and makeup...but knowing what she may have been going through, those piccies slightly scared me.

Was it for Halloween??? Was it during her tour over there and she was just trying something different??

I have OSOTM tour footage but not across the seas in video...did she do her hair like that alot???

The pics said 1989 so Im guessing its when she was on tour over there in London?????

( Hey, I just WAS at the Hard Rock in London too!!! I wish I had gone IN now

I don't remember her adopting this look in London. I did see one magazine article though where she has on a black wig and speaks very bitterly about FM. I guess she was going thru a pretty rough patch.

I LOVE Stevie..and we're all entitled to bad pics...haha..I know there are some of me..but oh my...haha..my first reaction to those was "EEK!" The dark hair doesn't work...it like emphasizes her eyes looking all tired...those just don't do her justice at all..poor thing...but yeah..those boots are awesome!

Unhappy Pip...

I saw this this morning on another NG that ya posted them on, I thought that both pictures of Stevie looked bad, The second pic (The one with the boot) looks like she has 2 "blacked-eyes"...She looks bad, But then again show me someone who takes great pictures (Stevie comes close though...lol...)...Brian

Default Yikes!

All I can say is thank God those days are over, and she's healthy!

Brian, that second photo is rather frightening...she looks like DEATH!

Smile I thought...

a pic I saw of Stevie in the dark wig with the infamous "Blue Lamp" looked kinda odd at first too, Almost like Stevie was in her "Xena" mode...lol..."Rock on Xen...errr...Gold Dust Woman..."...hehehehe...Brian

PS-I wonder if that would make Christine "Gabrielle" & Lindsey "Joxer"?...lmao....

You know, I look at pictures like those, and it completely baffles me that the people around Stevie didnt seem to realize that something was very seriously wrong.

Did they just shake their heads, and say, "Oh, that's just our Stevie"... or were they completely blind?
Maybe they were afraid that she'd fire them, or stop speaking to them, if they said something? (She regretfully admits to having fired many people during this era)
Or worse... were they just too busy mooching off of Stevie's generosity to care?

Ah well, thankfull that's all water under the bridge now.
Kinda scary to think how close we came to losing her though.

Unfortunately, lots of people in every day life do the same thing. Just turn the other way, and ignore the problem. It has some to do with the company you keep, also. They may not notice or even worry, because they are in the same damn boat.

It is obvious that Stevie wasen't in great shape. I still love her dearly......

Unhappy I agree...

with what both Johnny Stew and Maria said "Did they just shake their heads, and say, "Oh, that's just our Stevie"... or were they completely blind? Maybe they were afraid that she'd fire them, or stop speaking to them, if they said something? (She regretfully admits to having fired many people during this era)"-J.S.

I remember reading about how the members of Def Leppard couldnt help their late bandmate Steve Clark...They tried and tried any and everyway possible but in the end it seemed that it was out of their hands, They even went as far to tell him he won't be able to play on the album unless he got help...But the help never appearred. I wonder if someone really close in Stevie's inner-circle got her to realize that she was getting to "close to the edge"?...Brian

Yet at the time, many of the fans were elated that Stevie had cleaned up -- from coke, that is. During the "Mirror" tour & even the "Mask" tour, they all talked about how Stevie was looking & sounding "better than ever," & about how sobriety had benefited her. The fans didn't know about the anti-anxiety drug she was on. Some of us knew something was a little odd (she moved lethargically onstage), but we attributed that to a psychological block to her older raveups. Or we thought she had deliberately veered in the opposite direction from her earlier spastic, coke-fueled performances.

The Stevie Purview is always relative to each particular time & place. Who knows? You might look back at the 2001 tour ten years from now as a "clear indication" of how unhealthful Stevie's Atkins dieting was -- & be very glad that she finally ditched the diet in the year ... 2005.
