It was a nice surprise to see Lindsey in the Beach Boys Disney documentary. And no surprise he is B.B. fan.
But I didn't think Mick's favorite band was and still is the Rolling Stones. Though I guess blues was influential in Stones early days, I thought he would mention a more bluesy band. Cool selection of RS songs in this video. https://www.facebook.com/reel/773540162115232

By the way, this made me look for other members favorite band. I couldn't find any article about them explicitly mentioning it... except for Christine, where she said “I’m a big fan of Steely Dan; the Beach Boys; Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. I like quite a broad range of people.”
“And my favourite… the Beatles, of course. Some of their songs move me to tears.” Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie once named her favourite band of all time

Lindsey- The Kingston Trio, Brian Wilson, The Clash, Joni Mitchell
Stevie- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (of course), Janis Joplin, Eagles, anyone that’s currently in the zeitgeist Christine- Steely Dan, Fats Domino, Paul McCartney Mick- I guess The Rolling Stones makes sense John- Probably more diverse the older he’s got, but probably any blues

She's also talked about really old school country and western music she was exposed to by her grandfather. And let's not forget the first song she and Lindsey ever sang together was California Dreaming by the Mamas and the Papas and that 60s folk harmony thing. She didn't really keep up with new stuff starting around the 90s and has talked about how she was listening to mostly old stuff but then had some younger friend/god daughters who put together playlists for her with new stuff so she wasn't stuck in the same rut.Lindsey is a Beach Boys fan but yes that is mostly the genius of Brian Wilson. He's also talked about the 50s rock and roll e.g. Elvis etc he heard from his older brothers. He is also a huge fan of the Stones... inspiration for the drum sound he wanted on GYOW was Street Fighting Man by the Stones. And after his firing he compared his role in FM to Keith Richards in the Stones versus Stevie who he said was in the Mick Jagger role. The singer versus the guitar player and why would a band get rid of the most talented musician? He mentioned in the past that as they were working on Rumours he had been listening to the Bee Gees Jive Talking and the guitar at the very beginning and really inspired by the texture it gave the song and how they got that sound. He was def inspired by the new wave stuff like The Clash as mentioned and also Talking Heads. He most recently on his socials said he was going back and listening to some old favorites and at that moment he'd been listening to Thin Lizzy. He's on record as being a fan of newer (to us oldies) bands like Vampire Weekend and others....So.. I think his tastes are pretty broad. I would expect lots of the classic blues players for both Mick and John given how they started their careers and all through the early 70s I recall Christine mentioning Steely Dan for sure and then of course all the blues greats Albert King, BB King, etc....not sure what contemporary stuff she liked though.... ![]()

Sorry if this is duplication, but at 15:04 of the below-linked interview from 2012 Lindsey mentions some then-current bands to which he was listening:
Phoenix Arcade Fire Grizzly Bear Vampire Weekend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozXM_SjnfcE |

I wonder if Stevie ever introduced her dear friend Prince to Christine?

About new/current music, in a 2014 Meet & Greet, Mick was asked about what current music he likes. He mentioned he listen Bruno Mars, and also Alanis Morrissette though he admitted she was not "new" but like anyway. Not that they were favorites, but he liked them.
