New live album?

I saw the Mac at the 02 in September 2013 and it truly was an amazing gig. Really was. I know there is some talk of them possibly doing a new album but I'd actually be more excited about a live album on the back of that tour.

I think the shows at the 02 would be the best source of material since Christine McVie rejoined them briefly for a number.

Does anyone know if this is being considered in any serious way?

No we don't know. Fingers crossed. It would be nice if we had a live soundtrack and DVD to commemorate every tour.

If they're going to release a new live album, I'm wishing for something different than the Boston DVD/CD. In the CD, they only included 10 (TEN!) songs, an only three different tracks if we compare it with The Dance disc (EOTW, Come and Stand Back, obviously).
On this tour, they performed Sisters Of The Moon, for example, and another songs that really deserve to be in a new live work.

If Christine is rejoining them, I doubt they will release any new material by the foursome. They would put all their energy into revamping the fivesome and minting millions on a new studio LP, followed up by a tour. They'd be crazy not to.

If Christine doesn't rejoin them, a live album might emerge. Though I doubt it.

Plus, the LIB versions of the Dance tracks didn't sound as good. Stevie's voice in 2003 had a pretty weird, nasal quality to it that she seems to have lost since.

Well the tour was such a success and so critically acclaimed I think it's more than ripe material for a stonking new live album.

Plus for a huge fan like me it'd be the perfect souvenir. I saw them on the 27th September at the 02 and it seriously was one of the best nights of my life. I've never enjoyed a gig more.

I thought I'd bump this thread see if I can get the talk going again. That live album I wanted of the 2013 gigs didn't end up happening - but again I'm crossing my fingers for one of the current On With The Show tour.

I think it would be a great idea for a lot of reasons. Whenever they play here in England, the gig is the talk of the town and the place to be.

Also a new live album will get them back in the album charts with fresh live renditions of the old classics. A great deal of publicity could be gained by having McVie back on it. It could really help pave the way and grease the wheels for the new studio album they are working on.

Toto released a live album back in April 2014 called Live In Poland along with a DVD and Blu-Ray of the gig. It was a surprise smash all over the world and got a lot of critical acclaim and good word of mouth. Toto's new studio album is now HOTLY anticipated.

If it can do that for Toto - imagine what it could do for Fleetwood Mac?

I'd say we need a new live album before a studio one.

Is the set list really different enough to warrant a new live album?
I guess there's a new market out there but personally I think I'd prefer to listen to The Dance over a live album of this tour. At least the 'new' songs on The Dance make it interesting.

Not singling out FM here and I know they are just trying to keep up with the Jones' but with all the pre recorded tracks and who knows how many "programed" electronic parts then by the time things were re recorded and mixed how much of it would really be live? I suppose if they can make a few extra dollars they will do it. It could be Mick's new angle for increasing prices for his M&G's "My meet and greets will now be filmed for possible inclusion in FM's next concert DVD"

I'd love a live album, but only if it had all the songs that weren't on FM Live, The Dance CD, or LIB CD. They could use a few of the workhorses to fill the album up, but that could be interesting.

I think for a live album to truly be a success they'd need to do something a bit different. I mean, they've already released three at this point.

They need a few new tracks recorded like 'One More Lonely Night' and 'Fireflies' were for the live album if you ask me.

There's now also the live cd on the Rumours re-release to add into the pot, as well as the EPs released at the time if Live in Boston, which now seem to have disappeared from iTunes.

My view is that if they did something like this it should be a whole-concert release, with every track from the show. They haven't done that before; The Dance missed out some great tracks, the 1980 album was a mix of shows with added new tracks, and LiB was - in my view - way too short, a re-hash of songs done better on The Dance with one or two nice new additions.
