Default The return of the "Gold Dust Woman" wail

Not sure if anyone noticed this. From the video's I've seen of the tour so far, Stevie has been doing a lower, longer Gold Dust Woman wail. Both nights in London so far, she absolutely went for the full thing.

Enjoy!

That was amazing. She not only went for it - she nailed it.

She really ripped it up. Really blew me away. Last night, during the last half of the song after the wail, she was almost floating around the stage with her eyes closed, like she was on air. Amazing!!

I'm sorry. What?

This is not The Dance wail. She is still going low at the actual wail. She did go up high on "home", which was really great.

But, it's not this (at 3:19):

There's always one, isn't there...

That was 16 years ago, get over it. It's only natural for her voice to deteriorate with age so for her to be able to belt it out like she did on stage in London these past 2 nights at 65 is something rather incredible indeed.

Also, just for the record, I actually prefer the Soundstage version of "Gold Dust Woman" over The Dance.

Hey, it's ok... I never said I thought she should be able to do it. It's just not "THE" wail.

I like it. It's good. I've listened to it throughout all the recent tours. The fact that she's still doing some kind of wail at all is fantastic. Sorry for raining on your parade there. Carry on.

YES!!!

Gypsy seems to be the one song for me that has never been as good on stage as it is on the album. Everything else is as good or better live, apart from that.

Yeah, I guess it does fall a little flat. And, I love that song. It's one of my all time favorites, especially of the singles.

It's the wail that she does on the album version of the song, she's just changed the rhythm of the last few notes. The pitches are the same. I'm at school so I can't listen to The Dance version but I'm certain the one she did in London the same as the album version.

Gotcha. Well, God only knows how long it's been since I actually listened to that!

I think of "The Dance" version wail as trumping them all. To me.

Aww, cute! I was going to name a dog that once. I didn't keep it though.
