What do you like/not like about the Rumours box set?

I couldn't wait to order it online and receive it in the mail, so I went searching for a place to buy it. Not many choices here in Massachusetts. Target didn't have it. Best Buy didn't have it. I called Newbury Comics and they said they had only one, and the held it for me. I figured "wow, it must have flown off the shelves!" When I went to to store to pick it up, I asked the clerk about it. He said at the moment they only had one in stock! The list price was $100, but I only paid $80.

What I like about it:

It's a graphically well designed package
The live CD is very enjoyable
The Recording Sessions CD has some interesting material that isn't on the previous 2 disc Rumours release
The commentary by Lindsey and Stevie is surprisingly insightful and well written
Some great photos
Christine managed emerge briefly from the shadows and provide some fresh comments. "Of all the Fleetwood Mac albums. I always had a bit of a penchant for Mystery To Me. I loved a lot of Bob Welch's songs and thought we blended well together, but I'm afraid it's a distant third place to Rumours, with the white Fleetwood Mac album sitting in second place, which I also thought was great."

What I don't like about it:

The loose sleeve on the back of the package which lists the contents. What do you do with that? It's too large to be contained in the box itself.

The live CD is a collection from several different shows. But it's not a full show. Most conspicuously absent are Second Hand News and You Make Loving Fun. Considering the high price point, I wish they would have given us a download option to digitally acquire all three recorded show in their entirety.

The Rosebud film is great, but the resolution is still a bit fuzzy. But I can forgive that because it was probably the best they had. I always wondered the exact context for the film, but now I know; it was produced to promote their European tour.

It's not exactly high fidelity - but it's acceptable.

The price tag got to come down.They got high hopes to make a killing with those inflated prices.

^ couldn't agree more. I bought it for $99.99- but to have ordered it online, would have come to about the same, and you always take your chances when something ships-damage etc. Still I hate being a completist because that's just insane, $100! And damnit, if I and others didn't gobble it up for $100 they'd stop selling it for so high, so on behalf of my spending...I apologize. lol. Can't listen to it til after work tonight, but damn the packaging is really nice. I didn't remove the plastic all the way, just slit & cut the middle so my back piece is staying intact. I imagine it wouldn't fit into the box, and it kinda sux they didn't glue it on.

I opted for the 3 disc version for now with the intention of picking up the super-deluxe somewhere down the line. THESE UNRELEASED DEMO RECORDINGS ARE FANTASTIC.

It's hard to justify the $70+ price difference for basically just the Rosebud DVD. I have the 2 disc reissue from 2004 and I have my first pressing vinyl for when I want to rev up the turntable.

Would love to see more of the booklet and inside packaging if anyone has any pictures or scans to share.

I guess I have to break down and get a package.

The FM chain box set was $25.Stevie's Enchanted was $40 I think.

Just got home with mine.

Regarding the price - it's actually not bad, when compared to other box-set type releases that I've purchased. The packaging is nice, not cheap, and feels durable. I bought mine from an indie store, so it was a few bucks more than Amazon's price. I'm OK with the price.

My first impression is that it would be great to see all of the Rumours-lineup albums get this special treatment.

Yeah...right.

Second...the paper insert mentioned in the first post. Yeah...kind of annoying. I'll have to fold it...and that makes me cringe.

So far, having only slid the contents out of the box, I am very impressed.

What are you supposed to do if you want the 3 cds, the dvd and not the Vinyl LP?

I probably have about 6 dozen plus copies of Rumours LP's here.I probably can wallpaper a room with them.

I wonder if those in the set are new reprints or they are from WB's warehouse that were stored in for the last 30 plus years.

They arent old version found in some warehouse. They are new pressed vinyl, reformatted gatefold LPs with a 5 pocket CD/DVD inset-pocket inside and A gorgeous inset booklet. The LP is the cornerstone of the boxset... It's a lovely repackaging and its kinda beautiful.

Oh my gawd ,I got to get the set with the LP.Thanks for letting me know.

I'm glad they are still printing vinyl and they should dump cds altogether.

I love to hear IYD on vinyl.LOL.
