MICK FLEETWOOD INTERVIEW:
Mick spoke to Mark and Dave of KEX News Radio - Portland on Maui yesterday, mainly about his new restaurant on Maui, Fleetwood's on Front Street, but another interesting topic they spoke about was the use of the Fleetwood Mac song "Don't Stop" by the Clinton campaign back in the 1990's. Given that Fleetwood Mac is Bill's favourite band, Mick said that Bill Clinton sent him a letter recently asking if he and the band (Fleetwood Mac) could perform at his upcoming Birthday Party in LA. Mick said he contacted the ranks in the band to see if it could be done but that Lindsey was rehearsing for his tour at the time and wouldn't be available... Mick then said that Stevie was going to be performing at his Birthday Party so she would be there and that he was going to LA to be there as well, but wasn't sure if he'd be performing.

October 14th & 15th
There are two Bill Clinton Birthday Party events in LA over the weekend of October 14th and 15th. On the 14th there is a 65th Birthday Gala at The Hollywood Palladium where the featured performer is yet to be announced (could be Stevie). On the 15th there is a much larger event at the Hollywood Bowl where Lady Gaga, U2, Usher and others are going to be performing and that Yahoo is going to be streaming online worldwide. Tickets to both events are available to the public to purchase with the Hollywood Bowl prices being the most affordable. With Stevie being scheduled in Las Vegas on October 15th it's impossible for her to be at the Hollywood Bowl event... but the 14th is wide open!! Stevie will be in the area with her last show before Vegas at The Grove in Anaheim on the 12th... So we will see... Mick's Interview with Mark and Dave posted below.

lindsey said he was surprised to see him singing along every word of ISA when they performed at the WH (Jan 2001 i think?), considering ISA was never a big hit outside of FM / LB concerts, and that you really have to be a fan to know that one.

Mac's Buckingham going his own way

Bill Clinton can't quit Fleetwood Mac. As you'll remember, his campaign theme song was "Don't Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow)." His favorite band still is the big Mac, says guitarist Lindsey Buckingham.

So Clinton asked the band -- which is sometimes together, sometimes not -- to play Friday at his 65th birthday gala at the Hollywood Palladium. (His actual birthday was Aug. 19.)

Buckingham said no, but not for political reasons.

"I was gonna have to cancel two weeks of shows" to do it, he tells me, "because we'd have to go rehearse. It just wasn't possible."

So Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks offered to perform for Clinton, instead.

Here's the Vegas connection. Nicks is performing Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel. Buckingham is playing Friday at Aliante Station.

Buckingham says it's just a coincidence the two Fleetwood Mac stars -- and ex-lovers in the '70s -- are gigging in Vegas separately on the same weekend.

However, he says the reason Nicks is staging a Vegas show at all is to earn money to cover her costs of putting on a birthday concert for the former Mr. President.

"To get the band up and running (even for one night) is not an inexpensive proposition. So I think (Nicks') idea was to do the Las Vegas show (and a few other tour dates) just to subsidize that effort," Buckingham says. "That's my understanding of it, anyway. That's how it was put to me."

Clinton also is hosting a concert Saturday at the Hollywood Bowl, with Bono and The Edge, Lady Gaga, Usher, Kenny Chesney and Juanes.

If you want to attend Clinton's weekend, you'll have to pony up $1,000 to $1 million.

A million bucks. What's that get you? Glad you asked: a bunch of tickets to the concerts; seats at sound check; receptions with Clinton; seats at his table; a Chelsea Clinton brunch; and a golf outing with Bill. Ticket sales will go to the William J. Clinton humanitarian foundation.

Buckingham's Aliante tickets cost $53-$82. Nicks' Hard Rock tickets fetch $45-$156.

The former first couple are expected to attend the services honoring Hollywood’s “first lady.” Wasserman was the wife of longtime Universal chairman Lew, a powerful force in the entertainment industry and in politics. Also attending the services is Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

After the service, the Clintons will head to the Hollywood Palladium for a birthday gala for Bill, with Stevie Nicks performing.

On Saturday, there’s a 7 p.m. benefit concert for the Clinton Foundation at the Hollywood Bowl featuring Lady Gaga, Bono and the Edge, Usher, Kenny Chesney, K’naan and other artists.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KTLA) -- Bill Clinton and his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, are in Los Angeles for a fundraiser and a belated 65th birthday gala for the former president.

The Clintons' trip began on Friday with a public memorial service for philanthropist Edie Wasserman at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

Wasserman was the wife of longtime Universal chairman Lew Wasserman.
Next up was the former president's birthday gala Friday night at the Hollywood Palladium.

The gala was to include a cocktail reception, dinner and a live auction. Steve Nicks was slated to perform.

Tickets to the event went for about $6,500 per couple.

Celebrity guests included Jane Fonda, Felicity Huffman, Chevy Chase, Jessica Alba, Fergie and husband Josh Duhamel and boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.

On Saturday evening, the Clintons will attend a benefit concert at the Hollywood Bowl to mark the 10th anniversary of the William J. Clinton Foundation.

Scheduled performers include Lady Gaga, Bono and Kenny Chesney.

The former first couple also has several smaller events planned for top tier fundraisers for the Clinton Foundation.

They will have brunch at the Beverly Hills home of mega-producer Haim Saban and his wife Cheryl on Saturday.

And Bill Clinton will play a round of golf with top fundraisers on Sunday.
