Default IYD Video on Demand & Download Deal

Variety by Dave McNary Film Reporter March 28, 2013
http://variety.com/2013/film/news/st...ms-1200330453/

Stevie Nicks Documentary ‘In Your Dreams’ Hits VOD This Spring

Virgil Films has acquired U.S. VOD and digital download rights to the Stevie Nicks documentary “In Your Dreams” for a release on these platforms in the late spring.

The film, centered on the Fleetwood Mac singer’s making of the 2011 album of the same name, was screened at South by Southwest earlier this month. Nicks co-directed and co-produced with Dave Stewart.

The movie will premiere Sunday at the Landmark Theater in Los Angeles. It has a one-day theatrical release on April 2 in more than 75 cities via Abramorama.

The VOD deal was negotiated by Joe Amodei of Virgil Films and John Beug and Scott Pascucci of SN Productions.

Digital download meaning ITunes, I assume?

Really hoping it includes all the music videos they shot. Extra footage would be nice too.

Good news tho, nonetheless.

For someone who is anti-high tech and internet and cell phones and blah blah, she sure is embracing these new domains in recent years. That may be Dave's influence, and for that, gawd bless him because it seems if her management was left in charge, we wouldn't have much at all.

For someone who is more anti-tech than even she is (because I work in an IT dept.), would someone answer a question?

Does this mean there will be a DVD? Or just a digital download?

Yay! I'm just glad to be able to have an opportunity to see it. I'll take digital over a 4 hr drive to see it in a theater any day!

I was wondering about that as well. I think not, but someone could still buy those DVD rights too. Maybe some company who gets to see the video this weekend or next week will buy those.

I'd rather have a hard copy, official dvd/blu ray too, but we'll be able to make our own if we want after we download it, right??

I agree on the 4 hour drive part .Especially the way the gas prices are lately.

I rather drive 4 hours to see her in person then a film.

I agree on making our own .but I will fuss on the quality of the content from Icrap or some other paying download sites.

They will be dishing out probably crappy bit rate and it will look like crap on a large screen TV.I refuse to purchase digital content because of this reason.

Default In Your Dreams, Video on demand

I don't know if this has been mentioned here but I hope this means the video will be available to watch at home?

Wasn't there something about one of Stevie's video packages about they would never release it as a DVD unless they thought it would sale 10,000 copies. Realistically, how many copies do you think this will sale?

At least you're looking on the bright side

I'm sure the digital release will be more favored by her younger fanbase as opposed to the AARP crowd. With HD tablets and other devices, I think this will be higher quality than your run-of-the-mill youtube videos.

Yes I agree on the younger fanbase.Us AARP crowd like to have a hard copy in our old hands.

This excerpt from Wildhearted's Stevie's record sales thread.

Now is that all she sold.I'm shocked about the low sales on the Soundstage DVD.

Crystal Visions - 348,000
Soundstage - 46,000

I remember that Sears was offering Soundstage blueray for $9 bucks at one time.

Hey! I just hate paying for internet access! And fighting viruses, and keeping up with email, etc., so I only go online at work (where they would kill me if I tried to download this documentary).

I haven't quite received my AARP invitation yet (and when I do, I will stand at the mailbox and papercut my wrists with the envelope), but if there's no physical DVD, (sigh), then I guess I'll never see the film. (Sigh.)
