Default Enchanted B-Sides

Enchanted featured the B-sides Garbo, OMBTR&RS, and Thousand Days, etc. However, Real Tears and Mirror Mirror were omitted. Why do you think those two songs were not included? I, for one, would love to have Mirror Mirror on CD.

I've often wondered this myself, especially Real Tears. I assume Stevie doesn't like them much. Same with God's Garden and Inspiration. I realise none of those songs are her greatest moments, which is probably why they weren't included, but from a collector's point of view it would have been nice to have all the b-sides together in one place, especially given the amount of album tracks that there are in that box set.

I thought "Mirror, Mirror" was a b-side to something...was it just an unreleased track that got cut from "Other Side of The Mirror" and shelved? Other b sides she didn't use were "Inspiration", and I think "Long Way To Go". Wasn't "Long Way To Go" a b side as well? You know what I wish she would do is remaster all her albums and have the albums include more tracks including the b sides that were recorded that time. I would love to have "Bella Donna" remastered on cd!

Mirror, Mirror was the b-side to Blue Denim, but only on the cassette single.
Long Way To Go was never a b-side though, that is the second song on The Other Side Of The Mirror album! It was even the second single from that album in the UK.

"Mirror, Mirror" was B-side to "Blue Denim". I am unsure if "Long Way To Go" is a B side, but it was on The Other Side of the Mirror.

FYI, Mirror Mirror is from the RAL era not OSOTM.

My version of Enchanted

Disc 1 – The Singles
01) Enchanted (single mix)
02) Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around
03) Leather and Lace (single edit)
04) Edge Of Seventeen (single edit)
05) After The Glitter Fades
06) Stand Back (single edit)
07) If Anyone Falls
08) Nightbird (single edit)
09) Talk To Me (alternate version)
10) I Can’t Wait (edit of lp version)
11) Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You (single fade)
12) Rooms On Fire (radio edit)
13) Long Way To Go
14) Love’s A Hard Game To Play (edited remix)
15) Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind (single remix)
16) Blue Denim (single remix)

Note: I think “Enchanted” would have stood a better chance as a lead single to promote the boxed set and not “Reconsider Me.” Granted, not by much but better, and a fresh new remix for “Enchanted” from Chris Lord-Alge would have been nice. Nothing that would stray away from the original, but something with a new zing to it. And since this is mostly a collection for fans anyway, I would have included the single edits versions of the singles, since most of them do not appear on CD. I mean really, did we need all of these album tracks? It was a waste of space.

Disc 2 – B Sides and “Movie Star Views”
01) Edge Of Seventeen (full length live version)
02) Sleeping Angel (remix)
03) Blue Lamp
04) Garbo
05) Violet and Blue (remix)
06) One More Big Time Rock And Roll Star (complete)
07) Mirror Mirror
08) Battle Of The Dragon
09) The Nightmare (Special Vocal Remix)
10) Real Tears
11) Inspiration
12) Thousand Days
13) God’s Garden
14) Somebody Stand By Me
15) Twisted (demo)
16) Free Fallin’

Disc 3 – Unreleased, Outtakes and Rare Releases
01) Gold and Braid (Bella Donna outtake)
02) Gypsy (Bella Donna outtake)
03) The Dealer (Bella Donna outtake)
04) Greta (Wild Heart outtake)
05) Smiling Islands (with Robbie Patton)
06) I Pretend (with Sandy Stewart)
07) I Can’t Wait (rock remix)
08) Rock A Little (remix)
09) I Sing For The Things (RAL outtake) (the one with the bouncy melody)
10) Reconsider Me
11) Are You Mine (with Billy Burnette) (RAL outtake)
12) Long Way To Go (edited remix)
13) Street Angel (outtake)
14) Destiny (outtake)
15) Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind (outtake)
16) Jane (Piano Version)

Note: I wasn’t a fan of them including “Whenever I Call You Friend” and “Gold” since you can already get them on CD. “I Pretend” and “Smiling Islands” were both on the Atlantic / Modern Records label which would have made it easy (I assume) for them to be included, and much more of a fan’s pick. Also, needless to say there are numerous outtakes and demos out there so everyone would have their favorites, but I picked the ones that stood out to me. And even though the remix to “Long Way To Go” already exists on CD, I would like to send an edited version of that mix. Am not a fan of the piano version of “Rhiannon” that is on Enchanted, just seems kind of blah, however, that piano version of “Jane” that surfaced a few years ago is beautiful. Anyway, I’m rambling … this would have been more along the lines of what I would have put together.

I love Mirror Mirror and Real Tears so yeah it's a bummer they weren't included on Enchanted. I would have preferred they include those in place of "Gold" and "Free Fallin" (songs Stevie did not write). It also would have been nice if they included "Insider" and "Magnet and Steel" but oh well.

SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would totally have bought YOUR boxed set...

it's weird. just on Monday...i was listening to MY version of Street Angel and wondering the same thing about Real Tears and Mirror Mirror...why wouldn't Stevie like Mirror Mirror as not to include it? I can understand Real Tears {even though i love it} but Mirror Mirror is awesome. i dont understand this boxed set she did

I'm not too bummed about Real Tears not being included. I love the song; but it's available on CD. Mirror Mirror, on the other hand, is utter fabulousness and it's nowhere to be found on CD.

I also love your box set idea....its so much better than the originial release...the only song on your list I don't like is the 'Somebody Stand By Me'--Sheryl Crow song....ugh....& I have to also add Free Fallin....not fav's in my book....I'd put something else many more UR songs/outtakes.....its a shame we'll not ever get something really nicely done.....I know she tried....kinda Bob Dylan like with all his box sets/UR stuff.....I'd be totally surprised if it ever happend......sad but true.....only time will tell.....

Back prior to the release of Enchanted "ICE" magazine, which was a publication showing all releases on the schedule for the next few months, had an article promoting the release of Enchanted and they rattled of some b-side tracks that were included in the box and Real Tears and Mirror Mirror were initially included. Must have been a last minute change to take them out.

Sorry. My mistake. There are so many songs it's hard for me to keep up. LOL!

Interesting! Thanks MacMan. It's a shame they took them out because it would have made the box set that bit more special.
