Default Doesn't the Live in Boston CD suck?

I mentioned this in another thread but felt that it really deserves its own topic. So here's a thread to vent all of your frustrations about how much the CD that came with the Live in Boston DVD sucks.

We can start by taking a nice look at the tracklisting:

1. Eyes of the World
2. Dreams
3. Rhiannon
4. Come
5. Big Love
6. Landslide
7. Silver Springs
8. I'm So Afraid
9. Stand Back
10. Go Your Own Way

Am I seeing things or are seven of the ten songs on this CD also featured on The Dance, released just seven years earlier? Am I hearing things, or are six of those seven songs (all but "Rhiannon") presented in arrangements nearly identical to The Dance? Have I gone blind or is only one of the ten songs on this CD from Say You Will, the album this tour was allegedly promoting?

Where the hell is "Beautiful Child"? Or "Second Hand News"? Or "What's The World Coming To"? Or "Goodbye Baby"? Or hell, even "Gypsy"?

Double you tee eff, people? What on earth is wrong with this band? I mean honestly, what was the logic behind this? Because I'm completely dumbfounded by it. They may as well have left the CD out entirely and saved us a few extra bucks.

The track listing might suck, but it has the all important "Come" on it and that's all I really care about.

Wink

i was disappointed by the whole thing actually. They should've filmed the 2nd leg when they were doing "Sara" and other tunes.

that's why I didn't buy it. I really don't need it or want it.

At least Mick didn't package the DVD with a coupon for his wine or something like that. Or did he?

You're a smarter man than I. I really don't know why I bought it. I wanted "Eyes of the World" and "Come," I suppose.

They really could have done something special with the bonus CD -- it's not like any of the casual fans would be buying it for that disc (in fact, with only about 60,000 copies sold, I doubt very many casual fans bought it at all).
The track selection is way too safe, and for absolutely no good reason. Whereas it should have stood apart from 'The Dance,' it ended up being redundant.

Restricting my choices to 10 tracks, I would have preferred something along the lines of....

1. Eyes Of The World
2. Peacekeeper
3. Say You Will
4. Gypsy
5. What's The World Coming To
6. Beautiful Child
7. Gold Dust Woman
8. Come
9. Stand Back
10. Say Goodbye

I just ripped the audio straight from the DVD and made myself a 2CD set.

The CD that came with the DVDs has yet to leave the box...

I've done the same, but until I worked out how to do it the CD did me just fine. It had Come, it had Stand Back, it had one of my favourite versions of Rhiannon. I didn't really have a problem with it.

Ooh, there's an idea! Can someone tell me how to do this (or provide a tutorial link if you don't want to type it out)?

Wow it must've shipped a lot more than actually sold, because it was certified Platinum.

Is it certified platinum because it's a 2-disc video set (each of which counts as a unit)? And where does the CD figure in?

http://www.riaa.com/gp/certification/criteria.asp

Either that, or 100,000 were shipped, and we should all be on the lookout for 40,000 uber-cheap copies in the bargain bins.

Yeah that would have been sweet.

I agree that the LIB CD is a letdown. I hardly ever listen to it b/c there isn't anything special on it really besides EOTW. I ripped the DVD audio a while back, but I haven't re-named the tracks ands stuff yet (right now they are listed as Title 1 and so on).

You have to have software that can do it. I searched for some on the internet and found it, but it was only good for 30 days. Someone else may be able to provide more help.

Firstly, not a big fan of live CDs... prolly baggage from the old days. My gang of friends were "2 kewl" for live albums. Maybe it was the seemingly contrived roar of the audience or the fact that sequencing always left a bit to be desired. I did buy LIB and played it once or twice. Thought it nice to have a pro shot after watching the boots. By the time all was said and done with the SYW gig, I was ready to put it on a shelf for awhile. Maybe it's time to dig it out again.

My fav live album of all time will always be The Who Live at Leeds.
