Default Manic Street Preachers interview (Lindsey mention)

For those who don't know the Manics were a band that when they first came along in the early 90s thought that The Public Enemy and Guns N Roses were the only bands that mattered. They liked to think of themselves as an important political band, although I always found them quite pretentious. But the guitar player is good, and has a great voice. Nicky Wire (the bass player) said this in an interview recently...

I have to say, Song For Departure which I'll play at some point because that's one of my favourite tracks on this record, partly because James gets to do his guitar solo near the end and it's 30 seconds from the end, you know the bit I mean.

N: I do and I tried to get rid of that. That takes it over 4 minutes, because we had this idea that every song should be under 4 minutes, it should be within the realms of 3. But he insisted, well, he just threatened me with severe violence, so I gave in.

He's allowed one a record is he?

N: Yeah, he's really gone for a Fleetwood Mac kind of solo on this. He was really getting into his... Lyndsay... I've forgotten what the guitarists name is (Lyndsay Buckingham?) The Fleetwood Mac guitarist, but he was really getting into him at the time.

Default Hey!!!

The Manics are anything BUT pretentious!!! Anyways, they've since said of their early years :''We've always been about hypocricy''

You should go see them live ..they're a GREAT live band..they're touring UK again in April.
And the latest album 'Lifeblood' has been labelled as sounding like a cross between Fleetwood Mac and the Cardigans. It's a SUPERB album

Also,if you check the official site's top 10's lists..Lindsey is listed as James' number one guitar player

Default Funny but.....

I thought the very first time I heard Their single 'The Love of Richard Nixon' - how it sounded very much like Fleetwood Mac. Very Peacekeeper - y!

I love the manics, are quite popular on an alternative radio network in Australia, not particularly mainstream or popular in general.
