San Jose Show: 8th of July

San Jose was amazing!! It was my first Fleetwood Mac concert ever...and hopefully not my last! My friends Deema and Pallavi and I left straight from work and got to HP Pavilion around 7:30. After standing in line to get in we had just enough time to pee, get an alcoholic beverage and find our seats. Then, the crickets start a chirping away, and then the lights go down and we go insane!

(Warning; The set list will not be in order.)

The Chain: Amazing! I don’t think they could really open the show w/ anything else. I mean, they could, but it wouldn’t seem right. Stevie wore the boots!

Dreams: I get so tired of this song and I wonder why they always have to do it live, but damnit if I didn’t love it last night!

Eyes of the World: It’s a good song, but I don’t really know why they chose to do this one. There are plenty of other obscure FM songs that I would have rather heard.

Peacekeeper: Much better than I remember from the Today Show or Leno. The harmonies seemed tighter.

Say You Will: So cute! Her little hand movements and the lasso thing. Stevie and Lindsey got so close during his guitar solo we swore they were going to kiss. We were standing there like “Oh my god! They’re gonna do it!” They didn’t, but whatever. Then she started fanning his face with her hands b/c he was sweaty.

What’s the World Coming To?: Good song, not one of my favorites off the new album, but good live. Lindsey dedicated it to his “wife, Kristen” (to which Pallavi said, “Why did he have to say that? This almost ruins the night.”)

Rhiannon: She let go! I was so happy to see a little bit of the ‘back in the day’ Stevie come out for this song. I’ve seen her solo twice and it was never this good.

Come: I love that man! I just do! That’s all that needs to be said about that.

Gypsy: Good. Not great, but nice to hear anyway. Stevie changed into the Frankenstein shoes.

Big Love: So amazing! Every time I hear this song I don’t know how he does it. I love him!

Landslide: Was dedicated to us ‘Bay Area’ peeps. Stevie talked about how it didn’t really hit her until they got here...that this was where it all started. Driving from San Jose State to Lindsey’s house in Menlo Park every day. She said how they didn’t want to leave the area b/c this was where the music was happening, but the record deals were in LA. Just a gem of a song that everyone loves to sing along to.
She went behind him during his solo (to which my friend Deema says, “That’s love!”) and then towards then end when she drags out ‘snow covered hills’ they kinda high fived and she acted like she really didn’t want to let go of his hand, she kinda kept her hand on his forearm and he grabbed her hand again...but the man had to play. They did the ‘sideways hug’ and peck on the forehead at the end, and she said something to him and
they laughed.

Say Goodbye: So beautiful! This is one of my favorite Lindsey songs ever. It looked like they were both trying hard to keep themselves composed. They held the gaze a long time after the lights went down.

Beautiful Child: This is one on my favorite Stevie songs. I was so excited to hear this song. She sang it so delicately and beautifully. I love it!

Silver Springs: Not as much passion/angst as ‘The Dance’ version, but still awesome. The whole time I kept thinking, “This is ‘the song’. This is song that got me into Fleetwood Mac!”

Tusk: So much fun! Lindsey is almost more of a mad man than Mick these days. He went and ‘tusked’ John. Put his arm around him, then head butted him. Then went in for the kill with Stevie. I thought that she might not let him this time, but after circling for a while he finally got his arm around her neck...and she didn’t seem to mind. In fact, she took a hold of his hand to keep his arm there. Then he grabbed her hand and they did a little “dance around in a circle” (“well you’ve got that feeling now!”...sorry).

Go You Own Way: This is the one that Pallavi was singing the whole way there (and I mean the whole way there...I almost smacked the bitch...this is all said w/ complete love for the girl). She could not wait for this song. It was awesome!

World Turning: I love this song. This is one of those gems that more people should know. Every time it comes on the radio I have to blast it. Anyway, I loved Stevie singing Christine’s part (even though I miss Christine terribly ). I even enjoyed some of Mick’s little solo...but not all of it. It got a to be a little long. Oh, and Stevie’s back in the boots at this point.

Don’t Stop: Not one of my favorites (I think of Clinton every time I hear it), but it was good.

Goodbye Baby: We moved down closer b/c stupid people start to leave. Stevie dedicated this song to Scott (Anyone have a clue?). I loved this as the closer. Such a lullaby. So beautiful!

Then, they took their bows and blew us kisses. Someone threw a ring of flowers on stage for Stevie. She almost caught them, but they ended up falling to the stage. It looks like b/c of her hip she couldn’t bend over (which I think is why she’s not going around shaking people’s hands as often). So, she said to Lindsey (I watched her mouth), “Could you pick that up for me?” and he bends down and picks it up and hands it to her (I love him!). He also handed her some sort of necklace that he got from a fan. She nodded and smiled her thank you at the person.

After, we went to where the limos come out. We waited like 20 minutes at the gate before John came out in a black Mercedes, rolling down the window enough to stick his fingers out and wiggle them at us. Then, about another 20 minutes later we see Lindsey down in the garage with wifey and family, getting the balloons in the car (it was Will’s 5th birthday, which Lindsey said at some point during the show). He didn’t roll down his window when he rolled up though. When Mick came out, he rolled down his window and waved and bugged his eyes at us. So, then we see Stevie chatting it up w/ some roadie down in the garage. At this point we had been waiting close to an hour and the three of us are not patient people. So Deema starts yelling, “Hey Stevie! We love you, but could you stop flirting with the roadies and come and wave at us!” So when she rolls up in the limo, does she roll down the window? No. It’s ALL Deema’s fault! I smacked her upside her head. I was like, “You pissed off the ‘mamas’! Stupid!” Pallavi and I were quite upset.

So, that was my first Fleetwood Mac concert experience. It was, by far, the highlight of my summer...maybe even my year. I want to go again sooooo badly!
