OT
Hi everyone I'm sort of new here, as I've been lurking for a long time and just starting to post. I've enjoyed winding down after work reading these threads a hundred times. So many interesting and witty posts to read (not to mention the signatures). I could never find so many little facts about FM elsewhere. I have to wonder if any other bands have fan communities as great as this one! end OT Now we all know Lindsey's Soundstage is coming up soon, and it will be broadcast in Hi Defintion. I had downloaded a HD Paul McCartney Half Time show earlier this year as a TS file. The quality is unbelievable! Even compared to a direct dvd recording of it. A whole other league. I was wondering if there is anyone around with the capability and intention to capture the HiDef stream on their computer. I was going to myself, but I then found out how much the hardware would cost too much for me right now... but still possible if I get desperate enough.Does anyone know what I'm talking about here? Am I crazy for even thinking about this with the likely sale of a DVD? ![]() |

If you wanted to reproduce Hi Def quality on your home computer your monitor would have to be an LCD or plasma...and any video inputs you might be using would have to better than a five pin DIN. You'd have to use component video, HDMI or DVI type connection.

Edit: Yes, component or RGB connections are far superior to composite or "S-video". |

And on a sidenote, wait until NED's start rolling out. Plasmas and LCDs will be dirt cheap.

Yeah, I had the Paul halftime show but I had to delete it due to lack of space. Now I have room, and I wish I still had it. I'll have to check again!

My comment was based on actual measurements of color fidelity, moving-frame response, and gamma on many different 'best' models of various technologies. (I design high-definition imaging systems.) It's nice to have choices though - many people would rather have extra contrast on their video, extra bass on their audio, and extra salt on their potato. That is certainly a personal preference. ![]() |
