ok, short and sweet-
download a bit torrent program at

run your usual virus scans, it is an *.exe file;
install it- a walkthru is pretty simple;

next, get the dbpoweramp converter at

this will convert shn, flac, ape, into each other, as well as mp3 and waves;
install it- a walkthru is pretty simple;

now, go to sharingthegroove.org bit torrent forum, at

find a show you like, locate the torrent file, and click- the bit torrent program will launch, asking where to save the show (always choose desktop) and then your connection will begin.

when your DL is complete, inside the show's folder, select your shns or flacs ONLY, not artwork or setlists or shntools.txt, and right click- you'll get a *convert to* entry on the dropdown menu, and dbpoweramp will launch- asking your for file conversion type, location of save, quality of format, and overwrite choices.

The sound quality for SHN's and FLAC's are worlds better than that of an MP3. Converting a file to mp3 removes information from the file, and degrades the quality of the original recording. If anyone has a better explanation (which I'm sure there is ) please, well, explain!

My pc just froze, and I was 70% of the way through downloading the 777MB show!

Thank god it turned out that BT supports dload resumption!

It's been going slow at about 9kbps up until now but for some reason now its careering along at 37 kb/s, so it shouldn't be too long before it finishes. In time to save to disc for JC and I to listen to on our road trip down to Sydney tomorrow!
