Default Lyric therapy

I'm struck by just how many of Christine's beautiful songs seem like they were tailor-made to help us process our grief on this terrible day. As though she spent all these decades leaving us a secret trail of breadcrumbs to guide us through the pain we're all experiencing (and, look, there are Hansel and Gretel pointing the way, from the very beginning, on the cover of Kiln House).

Just a few that are on my mind today, and I hope you'll share your own favorites, too (I'll even restrict myself to pre-1975, so I don't steal all the good ones...):

Shine me a light from your eyes dear
Don't let me see a single tear
Take everything easy
Show me a smile

Why not lie here in my arms
And listen to the night?

There's no use in crying, it's all over
But I know there'll always be another day
Well my heart will rise up with the morning sun
And the hurt I feel will simply melt away

I'm dancing to the music of a simple melody
And I wonder are you thinking of a single memory
And I know when I see them swaying, I can hear myself say
Come a little bit closer, 'cause I remember the time
When you held me in your arms and you wanted to be mine
Everything good, everything gold, and now all that's left is a sweet memory
