I think there's also a good contingent of her fanbase (like me and David, for two) who aren't fans of her because we think she's a great songwriter (in any traditional sense, anyway).

All things considered, Stevie's fanbase is probably the most critical overall.
But that doesn't fit into the stereotype that folks like to perpetuate.

It's an interesting dichotomy. Many Stevie fans are at once intensely critical of the songs of hers that they don't like (I don't think you could have a "bizarro survivor" on any of the other forums) but also intensely defensive of the ones they do, and intensely defensive of her personally.
