His company has a policy that employees can't take vacation time between August 15th and December 20th. Yet, his boss DID give him 3 days off during that period. Sounds like the boss bent the rules for him.

I have interviewed hundreds of applicants for jobs. Odds are if you left your last job of 10 years because your boss wouldn't give you one additional day during a period when by company policy you couldn't take any days off you wouldn't be getting the job you applied for. How would he truthfully answer the question "Why did you leave your last job?"
