Agreed. We are all in glass houses, here. I haven't read so much as a sentence of the Twilight books, but I'll put money on the probability that they are really,
really strong on story. And story is so powerful that it can overcome almost
any limitation in style.
For example, when I read The Da Vinci Code, it was mainly because I couldn't stand not actually knowing what it was that I was heaping disapproval on, but lo! When I started reading it, I hated the writing but I had to finish it because I was hooked on the story. There's no shame in that, and I think Stevie Nicks has always been able to spot a narrative hook.
