It's no secret I find AJ's affectations annoying and his vocals on Stevie songs to be cloying, but after a really really really off start (probably due to loud soundboard), I would actually say this was his best NOTS performance by far. I wish I knew more about hte family of musicians (mom and daughter on vocals, father on guitar) that accompanied him, but they really raised this one up, while AJ's voice was appropriate within this combination.

I am just recovering from last night and enjoyed reading your comments TrueFaith. In many years of going to NOTS the performance of Crystal last night was a personal favorite. The family of musicians were:
David Bowie guitarist Carlos Alomar, who has also played with James Brown, Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger and more recently the Scissor Sisters. A Legend
His wife, singer Robin Clark who has also performed with Bowie and was part of Simple Minds in the 80s
Their daughter Lea Lorien is a dance music artist who has had hits with producer David Morales.
They did a great job on Crystal with Adam - the harmonies and solos specially.
Also loved the ballet dancer on pointe to "Beauty and the Beast" that opened the show - AFTER THE MESSAGE FROM STEVIE OF COURSE - how amazing was that?
