So the question is, what type of an album would you like to see Stevie make next? I have two in mind:
1) I'd actually love a full on folk album... perhaps make it a Buckingham Nicks/Fleetwood Mac effort if that'd work best. Soldier's Angel struck me as very much being nouveau folk. It kind of rang home how really effective Stevie could be at writing/singing a much more stripped down type of album.
2) Now for the other end of the spectrum. From the little taste we got on Everybody Loves You, I'd actually like to see Stevie do a full on electronica album. This is something I've been secretly yearning for ever since I heard the Planets Of The Universe remixes 10 years ago  . I think Stevie's ethereal lyrics would make for some incredible trance type music. |
1) I think Stevie's mature voice shines in rockabilly songs. I still want a full version of Elvis's "Wear My Ring". Plus it would be nice for her finally to duet with Chris Isaak on that kind of song on an actual Stevie album. I think they sounded great together on his show ("Solitary Man", "Red River Valley", "It's Late").
2) I still feel cheated out of the "Mirror, Mirror" album that never was. I'd love to get those songs or even new ones - the dark/mystical sounding ones - on a full album. Sort of a "Moonlight" sound for a full album, with Dave's help. Maybe even a new, updated version of "Battle of the Dragon" in there, too.
3) Record & tour with Christine. Hell, Stevie, just tell her that she can bring her dogs on the road with yours.
