She probably pronounced it that way because it rolls of the tongue better when you sing it... at it sounds more dramatic?
We all know how Stevie loves her drama.
I too wish the song had more lyrical depth. After all her grand proclamations we've heard for years about this tune, the lyrics definitely don't live up to the hype. Musically, it's catchy, though. It's interesting, I expected this song to be something special, and for Soldier's Angel to be absolutely an abomination. It turned out quite the opposite!
