I've been a fan since 2003, and haven't experienced the release of any new material. It's all been old and recycled, and though as a fan collecting that back catalog has been amazing and beyond everything I could have imagined, having this new, fresh current material is what it's all about.
I know I've mentioned how my fandom has gone in cycles, and how at times it can be frustrating, knowing you WANT to be totally digging Stevie's music at the moment, but just being in a lull. Stevie's music has helped me through so many personally trying times that sometimes I feel like I owe her my listening...... Well if there was any doubt, ANY doubt EVER, it has been forever forgotten. I can't wait for this new album. It will probably keep all of us going for quite some time.
The aura of the video is perfect. I remember one night thinking, I don't remember what I was listening to, but just thinking about how I hoped Stevie would have an album that was just so thick with this gothic, earthy imagery and whatnot.... and here it is in this preview.
When the "smoke and the fire" song came on, my jaw literally hit the floor. I knew instantly that that song could quite possibly end up being my absolute favorite on this album, and potentially ever. All of the songs are great, Anabel Lee is probably the least favorite, but at this point, even it is earning high marks.
Right now I really don't know what to say other than hell yeah!! The time it took me to type this was the longest I've gone without playing the promo again, so I think I'll leave, play it a few more times and then get ready for my concert tonight!!!
And then maybe later impart some more words of wisdom on this thing!!! But right now, all I can think is, damn right, hella tight!!!
