Karen Carpenter is my favourite female singer of all time. Her voice is incredible. I've heard so many people described as "the next" Karem and I never like the label. People should have their own vocal style.
You can't deny the similarity in the voice here though, which is especially strong in thelower register. It's all very deliberate though since she seems to be some kind of tribute act (and Carpenters were enormous in Japan) which you can tell from the dress as well as the song. She does indeed have a beautiful voice but I wish it was "hers" rather than such a conscious imitation.
For me, the only one that can be compared to Karen while not trying so hard to "be" her is kd Lang.
