Ok, let me clear something up, while I'm here...I don't get the resistance to SYW being called "Post-Rumours"...I'm getting a feeling that people are assuming because I consider it that, I DISLIKE the album...not the case at all, I really like it...A LOT!! (with a couple of songs as exceptions). In all the pre-album hype, both Lindsey & Stevie kept saying how it was "the best stuff they'd done in a long time" etc, etc. But once the "show hit the road", you've thought that they were embarrassed by the album...they didn't back up their words; they fell back on the cushy comfort of Rumours, etc. (oh and regards to Tusk...no, it didn't sound like Rumours because Lindsey intentionally didn't want it to...BUT, it ONLY sounded the way it did BECAUSE of the whole Rumours phenomena...I'm convinced that had Rumours NOT sold as much as it did, their follow-up album would've sounded quite a bit more similar. Ken Caillat has said in an interview or two that the Tusk songs sounded quite like Rumours but Lindsey was so afraid of it "being the same" had he & Richard tweak the EQ to give it a whole different sound. Hence, the "Anti- Rumours" quality of Tusk. |
When i was 11, I was probably listening to the pop on the radio, but i was an odd kid that enjoyed the stuff my parents would play on our big stereo, such as The Who (still a fave to this day). When i was in junior high and high school, i was pretty much the anti-rocker, listening to rap and whatnot, but when i started college, i saw the light, as my parents like to say
Yeah, I remember hearing about Lindsey intentionally not making Tusk sound like Rumours cause it sold a lot, but what does EQ stand for?
And as for cousins, all my cousins are older too, but all I got out of it was one that is 15 years older than me introducing me to the world of thrash metal, and I can't play guitar for the life of me (I had trouble lining up the notes on the staff in the book I got, which was the same exact problem i had in accounting with that damn columnar pad my professor made us use, and why couldn't he let us use Excel for homework, i dunno), so the closest thing so far for me has been Guitar Hero on my Wii (and do not ask me to get that controller out of the neck anytime soon
