She's losing potential sales that could be a third of what the cd might sell, and no record company requires six months notice for release, and ad space is always available. Amazon.com and online retailers could be ready tomorrow to have a pre-order page.
Shelf space at Target, BestBuy, Borders, Barnes and Noble and Walmart, they'd really have to decide now for the cd to be in stores and stocked through January, by the first week of November. All the rest is do-able. The retail availability of 'Soundstage' was minimal, it was a hard cd to find in stores, and that was a pre-planned spring release. Hell, she did an in-store at B&N in NYC, and Connecticut Barnes and Nobles didn't have the cd or dvd in stock the first week of release.
Like I said once before, I can wait, but the difference between 'rolling it out right' and auto-tuning and overprocessing it to the point of taking away the spontaneous and reputedly excellent initial work is an issue. It's happened before with Stevie's releases. She fudges around too much with the post-production and seems to have regretted it in the past. I'd like to see a fast work released fast.
Recorded in a new way, and written in a new way, deserves a prompt release (new way, that!) rather than not, is what I was thinking.
Panties. You're cute
I believe there is also symbolic reasoning for waiting until 2011, since that marks the 30th anniversary of BD and the 10 year anniversary of TISL. Then it can be truly promoted as her first album in 10 years and an album she's releasing exactly 30 years after her solo debut.
