One of the things I actually love best about being a Southerner is that ability to tear down those kind of walls to the most unlikely of people. When I go visit my parents at their lake house in the middle of nowhere, I usually drag along all my gay friends... and we end up hanging out with all sorts of rednecks, bikers, and even good baptists who all tell us the same things after they get to know us: gays are just like everybody else... but more fun!

Amen, sir.
I went to Day One of Pride in SF this past weekend. I have to say, I was let down. I prefer D.C.'s with the more obvious political slant, or New York's where the city landscape is absolutely prime for the whole town pouring into the streets for the party.
