God, I remember my parents being overly-cautious about certain things when I was a youngster. A few years go by and it becomes an anecdote, something you (and your parents) laugh about. Maybe Miranda's parents are as bad as people are making them out to be, maybe they are good, decent people who overreacted. At the end of the day, we don't know. And Miranda isn't even reading this so I don't even see the point in attacking them for something we don't know the ins and outs of.

My reply was in response to what Jannie said "Maybe they're complete nutbags and maybe they're loving and concerned parents; it's none of our business."
As in, if they are "complete nutbags" (and I'm not saying that they are) then perhaps it isn't the right answer to say that its not our business.
Turning a blind eye, walking away, not questioning - that is what allows abuse to continue.
Does that apply in this case? Probably not and I'm not saying it does...it doesn't hurt for people to be concerned though, the world would be a better place if people were more concerned about others.
