From a radio interview ( Rockline ) in 2007... asked if he collected guitars, he said "...I'm not a
boffin in that way..."
I'd never heard the term, but, I looked it up, and it's British slang for a scientist or nerdy/geeky type. So, he doesn't have a guitar "collection"- just guitars necessary for his work!
