I think she did this with Dreams in Saratoga NY in '78 as well. She started with "Here I go again" pause "whoaoooo....it's only me who wants to know (or go?)"

They seem to not play the Albany NY area much anymore. Last time FM was there was 2003 and Stevie hasn't been there since 1994 when a tornado whipped through the area the day of her performance and it was cancelled and never rescheduled. She hasn't been back since. Maybe she's superstitious.

Anyway, I noticed a lot of flubbing in that neck of the woods. The aforementioned 1978 show. In 1989 at Saratoga she forgot the beginning words to the bridge of Edge of 17: there was just a blank stare and she should have been singing "and the clouds never expect it." The girls came in at "...never expect it" and then Stevie caught on.

The November 1990 Mask show Stand Back at the Knickerbocker Arena in Albany was a complete disaster in the beginning. Anyone that was there or has heard the audio knows what I'm talking about. The band starts the song and Stevie does her extended walk to the mic for what seems like minutes upon minutes. She is at the mic for a while too before singing. I do not remember exactly what happened technically but maybe her mic was off and she tried to sing but no audio. The band continued the song and went into the chorus despite no vocals. I think they thought they should just keep going despite not hearing Stevie. At that point, you hear the "stand back stand back" music but Stevie's going "noone looked as I walked by..." Then she would stop...then start back again but the song kept going. This happened a few times. "Noone LOOKED" she would sing a few times. Then the music got quieter as the FM musicians realized what was happening. Slowly everyone got back on track and the rest of the performance was ok.

This was when Stevie was really stone-faced and serious and never cracked a smile about it during or after the performance. She looked like she was going to kick some serious ass after the show. She probably didn't though.
