All the contestants on "American Idol" are media whores. They are all exhibitionists, & so are all the participants of all those "reality" TV shows. They all crave the attention, even if it's negative. They're addicts. As for their enormous audience, perhaps that's a topic for another thread.
Did you ever notice how all the kids on every season of "The Real World" don't get real jobs? They all "work in film" or "work in music" (never in jazz or classical or folk, mind you, just hip-hop) or "work in DA BIZ" (which generally means they answer the phones in the office). They're a bunch of talentless, brainless, & charmless dolts, the lot.
That's why they're popular!
