Ahhh, the 21 Grams thing. There was a doctor once that decided to do experiments, positing that people weigh less after they die, because the soul has left the body and the soul must weigh something. He weighed dying people and he weighed dying dogs - you can read about him & his experiment here:

It's not "inexplicable weight," though. It can be explained by any number of factors, particularly within the confines of the experiment the good doctor there set up.
