(That's probably the best thing to do with a Paul McCartney album. )
(Also, this is a fascinating thread!)
Mine was The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac. I'd accidentally asked both my friend Jenelle and Mum to buy me "Recurring Dream" by Crowded House for Christmas two years ago, so I tried to think of something else to get to swap with the extra copy at JB Hi-Fi. I'd recently heard the songs "Seven Wonders" and... something else I can't remember... and I found out they were by a band called Fleetwood Mac. At the time I also considered Dream Academy, as I loved "Life In A Northern Town", but my Mum didn't know much about them. But she knew Fleetwood Mac (of course). So on our way down to a beautiful place called Halls Gap in the Grampians of Victoria, we stopped at JB Hi-Fi, and I swapped the extra "Recurring Dream" for the 2CD Very Best of FM. I put on the first CD, and was ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIED by "Monday Morning"! I was so shocked that I almost reconsidered my decision! However, Dreams came on, and I then realised that my purchase (actually, present) was sound.
During the trip I realised that FM had played all these songs I really liked ("SYLM", "Gypsy", and various other singles, particularly my nostalgic "Little Lies", which is one of only three songs I remember from when I was about four years old, the other two being "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits, and "Heart of Glass" by Blondie), but had never known the band. Within months, if not sooner, they became my lifelong favourite band!
After TVBOFM, I bought Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, Mirage, and TITN simultaneously late last year. I played them all in that order within two days. I think "Caroline" was the most memorable song (although they kinda all are really) the first time through. All those albums have since endured a good thrashing!
I got Tusk and Go Insane for my birthday this year (which have both now been thrashed, particularly as they're my favourite FM and LB albums respectively), and bought L&O and OOTC sometime earlier this year. I bought Christine McVie a couple of months ago, and have had Timespace for quite a while now.
Btw, I love Monday Morning now, especially after it was the opening for Tuesday's Brisbane concert!
Also, because I'm actually from Melbourne, and couldn't take too many accessories, TVBOFM got thrashed for the first time in quite a while. I must admit I did notice the improved remastered quality of the album, compared to the others which I normally play (for the sake of listening to all of their songs, of which each and every one I unabashedly love... although perhaps not entirely equally).
Once again, I've waffled incessantly.
