I did not say that and I actually was not responding to the pond comment, because I didn't know that Tusk made them famous on this side of the pond. I wasn't here then. In fact, if I'd been asked to guess, I would think they like Peter Green first, then
Rumours and then
Tango In the Night. I was responding to the idea that the band recognized Lindsey's genius and thought him to be a large part of the reason for Rumours' success. More than 20% of the reason for it, which is why they chose to indulge him on Tusk, even though they didn't agree with his musical outlook.
As for the band being more than the sum of its part, I've always thought so, which is why I've missed Christine since she left.
