Think of the dog as a metaphor for the band, sinking its fangs into the complaisant & boring music industry in 1978.

The rest of the art -- all those calligraphy-like scribblings -- was journal pages by the photographer Peter Beard. From the looks of all the scribblings, Beard must have spent a good deal of time not only in Africa but in Los Angeles with the band during the recording process. Bummer he hasn't ever talked about that year in detail.

*collective gasp* I'm shocked. But I'm also surprised that I haven't seen it talked about more on here.

My dog likes to lick the carpet. He gets his tongue stuck sometimes. And my best friend's Brittany Spaniel puppy has bit me on the INSIDE of my nose several times. Buhlud.

And thanks for the info on the art. I was very confused! (And I still kind of am.) But when I'm bored I sometimes dig out the Tusk LP and look at the art until my eyes hurt. I still don't think I've memorized every detail!

Oh and whose baby is that pulling on CM's hair!? I lol'd when I saw that!
