This may have been the norm in the '70's, but it went the way of the dinosaur in the early '80's, and I GUARANTEE you will NEVER see it again, at least not through the major labels!!

Not necessarily. My favorite current artist, Joseph Arthur, put out no fewer than 5 albums last year. All with a completely different feel. And Joseph is said to have a backlog of hundreds of unreleased songs. He is on a major label, and writes songs for movies and TV shows on top of his album releases; all while juggling a side band, the Lonely Astronauts, and making guest appearances on albums. He also is a visual artist, and even has his own section in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Yes, there is a formula that modern day record companies prefer to lock people into... but if you are headstrong enough, you can certainly break through that.
And we know that Stevie alone has a backlog of around 50 unreleased songs (who knows, maybe much more). Lindsey put out two solo records within the last few years, so we know the potential is there for the kids to be more prolific. They just chose to let their personal issues and egos get in the way of new creativity. Actually, I don't think it fair to say it's the entire band's fault. I'm sure Mick and John wouldn't protest to working more often. And Lindsey seems to be enjoying his newfound 'boutique' success immensely, and is becoming extremely prolific. I think the blame lies squarely with Ms Nicks. She just can't get over 30 year old issues with Lindsey. More importantly, I don't think she is taking declining sales and being an aging sex symbol very well either.
The reason why I may seem negative so often is because I'm lamenting all the lost momentum that this band has. I think Stevie's and Lindsey's latest solo albums are the best of their respective careers. I think their individual songwriting talents are just getting better with age. They have so much potential, and it's wasted because of REALLY silly reasons. They just throw up their arms and surrender to drama, and they're in their 60s... it's more than a bit ridiculous. The really subpar product we got from SYW for these DUMB reasons just angers me. Trust me, I love the band and will until my last breath. It's because of this love of the band and it's members that I get so bent outta shape. I simply want more GOOD music dammit!!!
