i.m.o. this is another similarity between Stevie and Carly S. (There's several, when you think about it.) Both singers' parents wanted their daughters to "make it on their own." It's a little surprising to me though. Not quite sure what's implied, either - Is the idea that he gave it all to charity? Or that he had actually lost a great deal of money and didn't have that much to leave her?
Anyway I hope things work out for her; I've always felt she's a really awesome person and a great singer/songwriter.
