Did you happen to watch the funeral yesterday? It was so eerie to me when the cameras panned to the youngest generation and the commentators pointed out that those little faces could grow into our next leaders.

I watched most of it. I felt the entire Kennedy family showed their stuff, big-time - really "did him proud." Very impressive. And I loved Obama's speech.
Politics aside, the entire thing made me realize what a good person he was; what a "fundamentally decent human being" he was. I also hadn't realized how profoundly religious he really was.
By the way, speaking of "next leaders," I very distinctly saw one of the grandchildren looking up at the Capitol Building with a more-than-idle look. It seemed to be either a look of, "Well . . . MAYBE!" or even, "This is going to be my workplace someday."
At any rate, he certainly was looking at it with a sense of being "at home" there, i.m.o.
P.S. - MSNBC did something right at the end of the coverage that I thought was a little weasley. They said that they were going to "cut away early" because they wanted to give the family a little privacy - implying that they were making some sort of extraordinary gesture out of respect for the family and how "public" they've been forced to be. Well, I looked at the time - it was exactly 8:30 - and I quickly went to the other networks - all of the others had also cut away. It seems pretty clear that 8:30 was a pre-arranged time for all of the networks to stop their coverage. Pretty crappy way to try to pick up ratings, i.m.o.
Anyway, there's some fantastic photographs on the White House web site of Kennedy visiting the White House in March to discuss Health Care reform with Obama, Clinton and some others. And instead of Obama's video address this week, they have his eulogy.
