what I meant was that the high school kids expect stuff to last, and if it doesn't, then they're devistated about it. A high school relationship gone wrong is nothing to be devistated about- upset is ok, bur not devistated. We all hve plenty of time to meet someone else. It's not that the relationships can't last, it's just that they usually don't.

that's true of any relationship. most relationships don't end in marriage, and even 50% of marriages end in divorce.
so it's common, but can still be devastating at any age. and when you're 17 and stupid, of course it seems like the end of the world.
