Right at this moment in time I'm reading 'Hydraulics in Civil and Environmental Engineering'. I wouldn't rush out and buy it!
But I am also reading 'American Rust' by Phillip Meyer which is very good.
I just recently finished 'The Outlander' by Gil Adamson. That was probably the best book I've read so far this year. It is set in the Canadian Rockies in the 1850s and is beautifully written. There are lots of twists and turns in the novel and it isn't until the last couple of chapters that the story comes together. I caught a review on Amazon that said it was similar to Steph Penny's 'The tenderness of Wolves'. There is a similarity in the way in which the story builds and the historical era is the same. However Gil Adamson is a far more sophisticated writer in my opinion. I would recommend it.
