To each his own. My hate doesn't need quotations, though. I plainly despise him. He is completely overrated, and I have his albums so I can say that with some legitimate prior knowledge. I have throughly listened to Kanye and was once very thrilled with some of his output, in particular
College Droupout and
Graduation, but I would hardly classify him as someone who raises pop music standards...why? Because he sells a lot of albums and has a ton of popular ring-tones? He's had some pretty great tunes but his own attitude about himself and his music is far too outrageous for me to take him seriously. And call me conservative, but I was disgusted by his "Rolling Stone" cover. That has nothing to do with his music, but his hideous superior attitude does very little to win him over. He's a pretty good rapper. There's many better, and I'd place Andre 3000 on a higher mantel in a second.
But you are totally entitled to your opinion and, really and truly, Kanye is an acceptable artist to argue for, more so than Britney or Lady Gaga anyway.
