What made it
not mild in your neck of the woods has to do with a geological idea known as site response, & much less so with any mechanistic quality of the quake itself (which in this case is classified as a
light quake -- quakes whose mag measures between 4 & 4.9). That's why there's such a bafflingly wide variety of experiential reports among Californians who are short distances from one another whenever a quake occurs.
