Thank you, Matt. For me, that is the most interesting tidbit of them all. I'm glad to hear someone speaking well of that album from inside the band.
I'm in end-of-decade mode so I started making my list of favorite albums of the decade so far (I know, 8.5 months still to go, but you know. . .) -- and when I took a look at the list so far, I was kinda surprised that
SYW ranks as the best
American album of the decade -- but, on second thought, of course it is! For all of its flaws (it should have been a double-cd), no other American album this decade can match it for ambition, scope, consistency, inventiveness, and overall musical excellence.
