I give the number out sparingly, in fact I even tried using a second cell for non-family calls, but I still get bothered a lot more than I like. I don't have a blackberry and I don't push the emails to my iphone. I will do business beyond the traditional hours, but I'd like to do it when it's convenient to me. I'll check the email once an hour and get back to people on my own schedule. I don't like constantly being "on call." And when Stevie gave that as her rationale, I understood.

The irony of all this is, that Karen has all the above "forbidden" technologies to keep Stevie going

. It's just like when Stevie said she went out and bought and loaded all those ipods for the soldiers... we all knew all along she wouldn't have had a clue how to do all that, and she had Karen (and probably others) do it all for her. I can guarantee you Stevie has a computer, blackberry, and other such things in her home for Karen's use. Speaking of, I wonder if Karen lives with her, like some of her past assistants have?
