When cameras are allowed I just use auto mode with flash........ for a recent Metallica show I used the P mode without flash and set the +/- evaluative (I think that's what its called) all the way to the left or -2 I believe and a lot of shots turned out great! I didn't want to chance it last night and just used auto mode since cameras were allowed
And try to be very still--which for me is the biggest challenge!! In the P mode hold still even after you take the picture until it shows up on your review screen..... I have a hard time with the motion shots though--those almost always turn out blurry.... a lot of the point and shoot cameras don't have the P mode though.... just manual which I've never really messed with....... You can PM me if you want to see any of the Metallica shots..... also the pics tend to be clearer the closer you are--when in full zoom I notice it is a lot harder for the camera to focus......
