I think he did much more than feign interest. I think he made it clear that he's also doing this for emotional satisfaction and with the hope that they
can have a good time together on this tour with no one leaving feeling unhappy.

He put the money out there first, because that's the pink elephant in the room and then he went on to explain his other personal motivations and hopes about the relationships he wants to be made whole and fruitful.
