Also it was painfully obvious that he put his "B" material on SYW and saved the "A" stuff for his solo albums. You would think he would have saved his epically long and eccentric tunes ("Red Rover," "Murrow," "Come") for the solo albums while bringing the more accessible tracks to the band- "Down on Rodeo," "I am Waiting," "The Right Place to Fade," etc. But no... he almost seems to have intentionally sabotaged SYW. That, or he was trying too hard to push FM into experimental territory. In any case, I think if you cherrypicked the best of UTS and GOS and replaced most of Lindsey's songs on SYW, I think it would have been a much stronger album, if not one of their best ever.
I agree - "What's the World Coming To" is weaker than anything from LB's subsequent solo albums.
